Sazerat Limoges Porcelains S15
Pierre-Leon Sazerat (1831-91) was a Limoges ceramicist and porcelain manufacturer. After an apprenticeship at Sevres, Sazerat took over the Touze factory in 1852 in partnership with Alpinen Margaine. Touze had established this factory in Limoges in 1848 and it employed about 50 workers. In 1853 Margaine left to join P.J. Gibus.
Sazerat moved to a new building in the Montjovis area of Limoges in 1859. He made high quality tableware, decorative pieces, and earthenware with and blue underglaze. In 1881 Sazerat took as a partner Pierre Blondeau, a clay supplier, and enlarged the business.
After Sazerat died (1891), Blondeau continued for a while with Pichonnier and Duboucheron, but by 1906 the building was unused and was sold to T. Haviland for a decorating workshop. The building served as a hospital during WWI and was later demolished.
