Magnac-Bourg Limoges Porcelains m15
Magnac-Bourg is a town just south of Limoges. It produced porcelain from 1819 to 1860. The partnership of Charpentier, owner of a kaolin source at Coussac-Bonneval, and his brother-in-law Charles Theodore Gauldree Boilleau, opened in 1819. They employed up to 250 workers and produced high-quality porcelains, including busts and figures. Charpentier retired in 1829; Boilleau continued but went bankrupt in 1831.
After other failures and a fire, the factory passed to Pierre Mousnier and sculptor partner Lefevre in 1845. They, too, produced portrait busts and artistic pieces. This factory closed in 1860.
Another small factory nearby made porcelain for everyday use.
Magnac-Bourg Marks and Limoges Boxes
I have no examples of marks from Magnac-Bourg factories.
Limoges boxes probably were not made in Magnac-Bourg.
