Leopold Dubois Limoges Porcelains d60
Leopold Dubois began as a student of sculptor Lemaire (Philippe Joseph Henri Lemaire? 1798-1880) and later became a Limoges porcelain manufacturer. He worked for J.-B. Raud from 1841-1843.
In 1843 he became partner with Hippolyte Jouhanneaud and director of a small Limoges factory on route d'Angouleme in Limoges. They moved to a larger factory in 1846 and employed 150 workers. Their 1850's production was notable for the high temperature colors ultramarine, azure, turquoise, aquamarine to bright greens developed by Halot. They produced vases with high relief by Constant Sevin and figures by Schoenwerk. I don't know what this company was called or how it marked its products.
In 1866 Jouhanneaud left to form his own company, and in 1868 Dubois sold the Petit Tour factory to Utzschneider & Co. of Sarreguemines and stayed on as director. This company was sold to W. Guerin in 1876/7.
